Benson Elliot team strengthened by former Dubai Investment Group real estate head
3 July 2006 — Benson Elliot Capital Management, the private equity real estate firm recently launched by former Doughty Hanson Real Estate head Marc Mogull, announced today that it has appointed Trish Barrigan, former Managing Director and Head of Global Real Estate for the Dubai Investment Group (“DIG”), as a Partner in the firm.
Ms. Barrigan will have primary responsibility for executing and overseeing private equity real estate transactions in France and other continental European locations, in addition to acting as a member of the Investment Committee for Benson Elliot’s first fund, Benson Elliot Real Estate Partners II. Ms. Barrigan will also be closely involved in developing overall strategy for the firm and in managing relationships with Benson Elliot’s global base of institutional and high net worth investors.
Ms. Barrigan brings to Benson Elliot a successful ten year track record of private equity real estate investment and fund management. She joined DIG as Managing Director and Head of Global Real Estate in 2004 and, during her tenure, was directly responsible for real estate investments of well over €1 billion. She increased DIG’s investment profile in the United States and extended the group’s activities into Europe, building a European investment team and establishing a London office.
Ms. Barrigan began her real estate principalling career with Goldman Sachs, which she joined in New York in 1994. During the mid-1990s, based in Paris and later London, she worked alongside Richard Georgi in building the Whitehall Funds’ franchise in Europe. From 2002 Ms. Barrigan headed the highly successful GS Core Plus Real Estate Income Fund, with responsibility for fund structuring, fundraising, investments and portfolio management.
Commenting on the appointment, Marc Mogull, Managing Partner of Benson Elliot said: “When I made the decision to establish Benson Elliot, and launch our first real estate fund, I knew that success would be determined by the firm’s ability to assemble an exceptional professional team. Central to that goal was establishing a platform, corporate structure and organisational ethos that would attract the best and the brightest. I am, therefore, delighted that someone with Trish’s breadth of experience, track record and market standing has agreed to join the Benson Elliot team. I have every confidence that she will be a valuable asset to the firm and to our investors.” |
